Pennsylvania voters have the option to vote by mail, without the excuse that was needed for a traditional absentee ballot. Under new state laws, you can vote by mail right from your own home. If you have a PA driver’s license or a state-issued photo ID, you can apply online here.
You can also download and print a paper application here.
Mail-in ballot applications are due the Tuesday before the Election. For this year’s general election, mail-in ballot applications are due by Tuesday, October 29th.
Find below, a step-by-step guide on how to apply for your mail-in ballot:
Visit the online application website
On the website you will be asked three questions
You will then be directed to complete the application, which will ask for your name, date of birth, driver’s license or photo ID number, address, and the address to which you’d like the ballot sent. Annual Mail-in Ballot Request*After completing the application, you will be asked if you would like to receive a yearly mail-in ballot application. By clicking yes, you will automatically be mailed an application for every election. Please note that this does not mean you will automatically receive an actual ballot every election, just the application to request one.
You can track the status of your application through the Department of State website here, or you can call the Philadelphia County Board of Elections at (215) 686-3469 with specific questions.
Once you have received your ballot from the Board of Elections, you can either personally hand-deliver it or mail it back to the Board of Elections, where it must be received no later than 8:00 pm on Election Day.
